Based on 180 reviewsBurgin Depot is widely praised for its fresh, generously portioned sandwiches and exceptional homemade desserts, particularly pies and cakes that many find memorable. Customers frequently highlight the friendly, welcoming staff and the strong sense of community, with regulars appreciating the personalized service. The restaurant's specialty dishes, such as catfish and patty melts, receive positive remarks, though some feedback suggests occasional inconsistencies in side items like French fries. Overall, Burgin Depot is recognized as a charming local spot that offers both quality food and a warm, inviting atmosphere, making it a recommended destination for visitors and locals alike.
I was passing thru Burgin which is a rarity for me, and stopped in to the Burgin Depot on a whim just to get a soda. Ended up getting a sandwich and man what a sandwich it was! She piled on the meat and dressed it up right! All fresh ingredients and the tomatoes were obviously not store bought as they were FABULOUS! I also got a slice of chocolate pie that was to die for! While standing at the counter waiting for my sandwich to be made I watched the orders going out to the customers that were dining in. Plates of the biggest fried fish I'd ever seen were the most popular as they had all you could eat fish going on. They had a side of spiced apples that looked delicious! Everything I saw made my mouth water. On top of that EVERYONE was super friendly. By that I of course mean the staff, but even the locals were friendly. I told the girl I'd never been there and then two different customers started conversations with me because they overheard my comment and they wanted to tell me how great the place was and I should come back and dine in sometime. Just a great little hidden gem out in Burgin waiting for you to discover them. I know I will be going back as it is only 10 minutes from my house. I never go in that direction to go anywhere so I never even knew it was there. I've got a reason to go that way now!
Great place for Patty melt was fantastic. The French Fry's I had the last time needed to be cooked longer and made crispier, I forgot to ask but will make it how you want.
Loved their service. God their Catfish on Friday night were open late about 8 pm. One serving served 2 of us. It was yummy. Their pies and cakes were handmade out of this world!!
My dad, brother and myself have been coming here now for maybe 3 years and really enjoy the food and people. It's worth the stop. They know us as the Versailles boys!!
We love going to this little slice of heaven. The staff is so friendly and nice. The food is amazing. The pies and desserts are wonderful. If you haven’t been here you are missing out on a wonderful experience. Love the Burgin Depot!
We were out to visit nearby Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, but the on-site restaurant was a bit too expensive for us, so we checked google for other local options. The Burgin Depot looked like a friendly spot for a hungry family, and we were well satisfied with our choice. It’s not a fine dining experience - if that’s what you’re looking for, you’ll be disappointed - but the food was tasty and prepared quickly, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and it kind of felt a little like eating at home in all the best ways. We were comfortable and well cared for, and Kim kept the pickles flowing our youngest (and pickiest!) eater. We were a little early for the Friday all-you-can-eat catfish buffet, and the kids were sad that we’re going to miss all-day breakfast tomorrow, but the 95 minute commute kind of limits our patronage. I got the feeling they cater more to locals than tourists, but those are my favorite spots. Prices are good, service is warmly casual, and the atmosphere is very relaxed. I’d definitely go back again.
the food was great. they got to us right when we got in and had our food out quickly. it felt very homey and evryone was super nice totally recommend!
